There is a new approach to battling food insecurity in the Hudson Valley. A Port Chester-based organization is doing just that -at a time when it is seeing a need like never before. News 12 Melanie Palmer reports.

PORT CHESTER, NY (October 20, 2025) — Meals on Main Street hosted its fifth annual 5K & Fun Run, marking the event’s largest turnout yet. The event featured more vendors, food options, music, and perfect weather, drawing over 600 registrants. The organization expressed gratitude to runners, donors, community partners, and volunteers for making the day a success.

The 5th Annual Meals on Main Street (MOMS) 5k and 1.5 Mile Fun Run took place on Sunday, October 19, 2025 in Port Chester with over 600 runners. The event raised over $200,000 that will be used to fund MOMS food assistance programs over the holidays. In 2024, Meals On Main Street distributed over 3,000 turkeys to families in need across Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Fairfield counties in time for Thanksgiving. They anticipate greater demand this year and rely on the race to help meet the growing need in our area.

The Junior League of Westchester on the Sound (JLWOS) has made a $100,000 grant to Meals on Main Street of Port Chester (MOMS), the local non-profit that fights hunger and food insecurity. This is the largest single grant in the history of the JLWOS, and was given on the occasion of the group’s 75th anniversary. The grant will fund the launch of Meals on Main Street’s Mobile Community Café, a first-of-its-kind sit-down dining experience featuring a menu with no prices.

News 4 New York and Telemundo 47 are teaming up with Stop and Shop to host the Feeding Our Families food drive on Saturday, Sept. 13 to help eight regional food banks including Meals on Main Street across the tri-state stock up their shelves before food lines grow.
